When the Provincial Women's Board gathered in Hope, IN. for their spring meeting, they came with more than an agenda. Guided by the call of James 2:16, the board chose to step beyond conversation and into action — joining Hope Moravian Church's weekly food ministry, a program that has been feeding the community since 2006.
Board members washed and prepared potatoes, baked cherry crumble cake, sliced marinated pork loin, and steamed broccoli alongside the congregation. By 5 p.m., the meal service was underway — but cars had been lining up since 3 o'clock. That evening, roughly 225 meals were served, with extras sent home for neighbors unable to leave their houses.
It was a reminder that mission is not just something we study or support from a distance. Sometimes, it is something we show up for — in the kitchen, in the rain, and at the table.

Brian Dixon, Nasel Ephraim elected bishops by 2026 Northern Province Synod
The 2026 Synod of the Moravian Church in America, Northern Province, held June 24-26 in Minneapolis, Minn., elected the Rev. Brian Dixon and the Rev. Nasel Ephraim as bishops of the Moravian Unity.

Nasel currently serves as pastor of Redeemer Moravian Church in Philadelphia, Pa. She was ordained in 2002, consecrated a presbyter in 2009 and has served in Barbados and St. Kitts.

I am honored by the trust that has been placed in me, and I am very mindful that this moment is about God's faithfulness and the Church's continuing journey. I step into this role trusting God's guidance, praying for the wisdom to lead with compassion, the courage to pursue justice, and the grace to serve all God's people with love."
